Blakester with the Race Cars!!!

Brent took Blake on a daddy-son day to go see the race cars on their way to Kansas City race way. They gave Blake small race cars. He had such a good time!

Sunflowers!

We live in the Sunflower State of Kansas. I couldnt go without finding a field of Sunflowers to take pictures in! It was fun.

As you can tell Michayla wasnt too happy about the bees that accompany sunflowers. We really do love it here. It is beautiful. We only wish we could talk all of our friends and family into moving out here with us.

Homeschooling

Well, as an update to a previous post, we are now homeschooling Michayla. It is going really well. We found a curriculem we really like, and I love that she gets to practice music every day and also learn spanish (which is good for me too!) I dont think this is a permanent thing, but we will just have to see how it goes, and how she does. We do about 2-3 hours of bookwork a day, with art, and science in the afternoon on most days (when Allyson is asleep), and something active for PE, sometime throughout the day. I never pictured myself homeschooling, but I actually really like it.

Law Journal Article

The last six months Brent has been working on an Article that he wrote for the washburn law journal. Recently, we found out he is getting published in the first issue, which is really excited. However, it has been WAY time consuming, and more work than we could have ever thought. Brent has had sleepless nights, and constant stress of doing it well. This is a picture of his "source book" for his article. It is all of the things that he references to, marked and highlighted according to how he used and paraphrased them. He did an amazing job! And pretty soon he will actually be in a database for tax law. Pretty cool!

Toliet Girl

So, Allyson has now topped my kids on the crazy list. She is always finding new things to do to destroy my house, and my sanity. Her latest thing is getting INTO the toliet as fast as she can. No, this was not a single event, this just happened to be a time when the camera was close. She thinks it is very funny. Probably because the first time she did it was during pre-school, and all the pre-school kids wer laughing at her. It wasnt so funny to me, however, since one of the patrons of the pre-school had not flushed, and she was swimming in yellow water. GROSS! AHHHHH!

Huff n Puff

This month we also went to a hot air balloon rally at Lake Shawnee about 20 min from Topeka. It was a little windy, so they didnt put up all of the hundreds of balloons they usually do, but it was still neet to let the kids see them up close. Its always a good time to be with friends and family.:)

The Deans Ball

A couple of weeks ago Brent and I got to have a night out on the town. Brent was one out of about 6 students from washburn was invited to the Deans ball. It was a black tie even (we just didnt want to afford the tux, as you can see:)) It was in Kansas City at a very nice International Hotel. We had the dinner/dance on the top floor, and it over looked a beautiful part of Kansas City. They served us a very good 5 course meal. We felt very out of place with all of the professors and seasoned attorneys, but it was fun socializing with new people, and we had a great night.

We went with our frineds that are also law students here in Topeka Regan and Annie Duckworth. We had a fun night!
